Technical and Applied Studies

At Wellington High School we are responsible for delivering a wide range of subjects which engage and challenge students to learn a wide range of skills and use technologies to design, create, produce and evaluate solutions.

Our subjects offer outstanding training and educational opportunities specifically aligned to industry and career pathways. These include Technology, Wood, Metal, Food, Agriculture, Information Technology, Food, Textiles, Exploring Early Childhood, Community and Family Studies, Primary Industries, Hospitality, as well as Metal and Engineering.

The TAS faculty has access to an amazing array of industry standard facilities and tools. Some of these include a laser machine, vacuum former, 3D printers, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, a specialized Agriculture and Primary Industries purpose built agriculture plot and classroom facilities as well as the Metal and Engineering area which contains the latest laths and welding equipment in a fully dust extracted environment.

Many of our subjects contain substantial practical components, and as such require us to charge fees in order to pay for the large amount of consumable products that we use during the year.  As you will appreciate, we consider the safety and well-being of our students the most important aspect of our job and therefore have in place very stringent WH&S policies and standards. The wearing of enclosed leather appropriate shoes is mandatory in our subject area.
