It has been a busy end to the term for the Junior and Senior girls cricket teams. We have played and won 3 games over two days in the last fortnight. The juniors have played two 20-20 games in the Lisa Kieghtley Shield and the seniors played Condobolin in the Marie Cornish Shield.
Our performances as a team have continued to improve with every game we have played. Our last senior game was the best team performance in a few years as everyone contributed and our fielding was outstanding.
Some of the highlights over the last 3 games have been:
● Amali scoring 145 runs in 3 games and only getting out once.
● Georgia Fertig taking wickets in every game with skillful bowling.
● Giaan Cubby has made some excellent contributions with the bat.
● Anna Lee has stepped up to be our opening batter.
● Shyann May only let 1 bye through as wicketkeeper and has taken two catches.
● Ruby taking two wickets in an over to win us the game.
● Ashleigh batting for a long time in the junior match.
● Shoniqua Morris taking wickets in every game she has played in.
● Nayliese Thompson taking catches all around the field.
● Piper Kierle making her debut for Wellington High and scoring valuable runs at an important time.
We have decided not to give out any player of the match awards because it was too difficult to decide as all of our players have contributed and they all would have deserved it. Our next round of games are not until Term 4 in both competitions, so we have plenty of time to keep training hard.
